1972. The Miracle of the Andes. Sixteen young uruguayan rugby players of the Old Christians Club are rescued after an ordeal of seventy three days since their plane crash and eight days after rescue works had been cancelled.

1974. The swimming and diving teams of the Montevideo Cricket Club win the summer championship held a open pools.

1975. Those teams win again for the second consecutive year.

1976. A South African tour by the All Blacks, disregarding the ban on all sports to play international games in South Africa, provokes a boicott by African countries on the Olympic games.

1980. Eluding the international ban the Argentinian Pumas change their name to Jaguars and play against the Spingboks in South Africa.

1981. The Uruguayan National Rugby team win the South American Rugby championship with the absence of Argentina.

1983. The association football team of the Montevideo Cricket Club hosts the team of Club Universitario de Buenos Aires (C.U.B.A.) an exchange that was since continued every year.
- The final game of the South American Rugby championship, held in Buenos Aires between the national team of Argentina and Uruguay is ended by the referee before time completion because of continued acts of violence.

1984/ 1987. The association football team of the Montevideo Cricket Club climbs from the fifth to the first Division of the Liga Universitaria de Deportes (main amateur sports league in Uruguay) by winning consecutive championships in each division qualifying to play in each Champions League. This record remain unbeaten.

1985. Uruguay returns to democracy after twelve years of military dictatorship.

1987. The first rugby World Cup is won by the All Blacks.

1987/ 1989. The ladies hockey team of the Montevideo Cricket Club wins the local hockey championships.

1988. Lady members of the Montevideo Cricket Club are allowed to vote in the General Meeting as a result of the approval of new statutes.

1990/ 1992. The ladies and junior ladies hockey teams of the Montevideo Cricket Club win the respective local hockey championships.

1991. The second rugby World Cup is won by The Wallabies.

1992. Apartheid ends in South Africa and Springboks return to international activities.
- Rugby rules: tries are now valued at five points.

1993. The first rugby seven-a-side championship is held in Scotland and is won by England.

1993/ 1997. The ladies hockey team of the Montevideo Cricket Club wins the local hockey championship, completing eleven consecutive local championships won, a record that has been acknowledged though not registered by Guiness Book of Records.

1995. The third rugby World Cup is won by Springboks.
- The I.R.F.B. rules that rugby is open to both amateurs and professionals without distinction.

1996. The Montevideo Cricket moves for the fourth time to new premises in Solymar in the outskirts of Montevideo.
- The first Tri Nations is played and is won by the All Blacks.

1998. Uruguay National Rugby Team classifies for the first time for the rugby World Cup.
- Pablo Lemoine, outstanding rugbier of the Montevideo Cricket Club, is engaged by the Bristol rugby club in England thus becoming the first uruguayan rugby prosessional player.

1999. The fourth rugby World Cup is played and won by the Wallabies. Uruguay national rugby team´s performance is very encouraging.

2000. Pablo Lemoine is engaged by Stade Francaise.
- The Montevideo Cricket Club successfully organizes the first Oldies but Goldies championship for veterans players on its premises.
-The Men´s hockey team of the Montevideo Cricket Club wins the local national hockey championship.

2001.The Men´s hockey team of the Montevideo Cricket Club wins the local championship for the second consecutive year.
- The Montevideo Cricket Club again organizes successfully the Oldies but Goldies championship in its premises. Several former players of the Montevideo Cricket Club residing in Argentina, Brazil and U.S.A., travel to Uruguay for the event which also coincided with the celebration of one hundred and forty years of uninterrupted existence of the Club.

2002. Uruguay National Rugby team classifies again for the World Cup.
- The Montevideo Cricket Club again organizes the Oldies but Goldies championship which has become a classic. Giovanni Lopez, former rugbier of the Montevideo Cricket Club and resident in the U.S.A. arrives on friday, plays on saturday and returns on sunday.
